Cut off all my hair before my daughter's wedding next week? Help!?

Okay, I let my hair grow for over a YEAR so that it would be on my shoulders- all I wanted was a little bang and then had the bottom of the hair flip up and the rest puff up turned under, simple, right? This chick "trimmed" it before Easter when she colored it-- so when I went Wednesday, I told her I wanted it a shade lighter because of the summer and to just even off the edges--she asked if I wanted an inch or two off? I said NO, I wanted it the same as it was just freshly cut and shaped.

I HAVE NO HAIR--My hair is about one inch longer than it was last year when I started to let it grow---when she blowed dried it she had the bottom turned under and it looked cute---she NEVER gave me a mirror to see the back---I have very thick hair and there is less than a comb full that is long enough to flip up-, needless to say I can't do it, and I am going out of town for the wedding so another stylist will have to work with it--which I have no confidence in at this point. what should I do?

Do your hair in an updo so it is swept up and no one will know it is cut because you stated when she blew dry it you couldn't tell in the front so I am assuming you have enough hair to do an updo style.

Another thing that I did because I used to have super short hair but was growing it out so coming up with styles was difficult during the bad stages so I would do like a "pin curl" style using a ton of bobby pins it was actually super cute and pretty easy to do I just put a gel by Nexxus called Versastile in my hair after I washed it and took strands of hair balling or twirling/curls punches of hair and sticking bobby pins in my hair to hold it all up but make sure the pins don't show very much if at all. I would put fashionable headbands in my hair so it was all swept up because some of the short hairs would drop out.

The only thing is if your hair is super fine this style might be a little harder for you to do.

Look at magazine pictures to get ideas of updo's you think will work with your hair that you like. Also, old classic movies have great hair ideas for special occassions like the 20's style or Audrey Hepburn styles. Enjoy the wedding and don't worry it will be fine again soon. Report It

This is your daughter's special day. You simply have to let it go and focus on the positive. I'm sure it will still look nice - a professional stylist can make anyone's hair look great for a wedding.

I know it's hard and it's not what you were planning, but it's only hair after all.

My own wedding is next week and there are several people who now cannot attend because there was a death in the family. I wish there had only been some hair problems.

Do your best to get over it, and be positive for your daughter.

Good luck!

You can't go to your daughter's wedding looking like that! Send her a card and an invitation to Thanksgiving Dinner. She'll thank you for it (there will be photos taken there, you know).

Sew the lady and maybe extentions will help the problem. And maybe you should put a picture on here and you could probably get a lot of good advice! Hope i helped!

i dunno..all I can say is..uh..i'm sorry..and Hair Cutters mess up your hair 95% of the time..try finding someone another person in your family knows and trusts to cut it next time..and to the person like 2 people above me ...i think.. ARE YOU KIDDING!?!??! YOU DONT MISS YOUR DAUGHTERS WEDDING BECAUSE OF HAIR?!?!?? i would be scarred for life

First, I would call the stylist and complain. She knew what you wanted and she did not listen. Make your complaint simple: I told you just to trim the edges and you cut off more than I asked. I am unhappy and I am taking my business elsewhere. If she tries to argue back it's just another truly bad sign of her professionalism and shows that she should not be in business anyway.

Second, when you're out of town for the wedding are you going to be spending time with people that know the local hairdressers? If so, ask them for their recommendations. Perhaps you can go with your daughter and her bridesmaids to their hair stylist the morning before, assuming they're taking this route, and just have them STYLE it (as in no scissors required at all). The most they will do is maybe wash it, blow dry it, use a curling iron and hairspray to keep it in place.
