I was talking with my hair stylist about this and neither one of could see how it made since to cut of your ends to make your hair grow. You hair grows from the roots, not the ends.
This was just a bit of trivia. I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone had any proof to back up the old saying.
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
your cutting dead ends
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
cause of split ends.
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
Because the ends of your hair are the most damaged and by trimming them it helps to keep the hair healthier which promotes growth.
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
If you have split ends your hair will keep breaking off in return not growing much longer because each inch or so it grows it will break off that much....But if you get about 1/4 or 1/2 an inch cut off for every full inch that it grows then your hair will be healthier %26amp; will be able to grow without breaking off. Anyways I hope I didnt confuse you %26amp; I hope this helps :)
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
it might be that split ends will keep breaking off and even as your hair grows from the roots, it wont get any longer because your ends keep breaking off. and getting them cut off helps to stop them from breaking off and then your hair actually gets longer.
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
The ends of your hair go dead because of the heat damage and other damage you do to your hair. If you trim the ends it will give it a chance to grow. It is the same principal as pruning a tree. That means when you trim the ends of a tree, the tree grows.
Why do they say if you cut your ends, your hair will grow faster?
hair grows on average 1/2 inch per month. if a person gets the recommended 1/4 to 1/2 inch trim every 8 weeks, it removes the damage they have caused due to heat/styling damage, coloring, etc. as you cause damage to your hair, you are causing split ends, which, literally, split the end of the hair in two. as the end splits, it breaks off, causing the hair to become shorter. if the hair is becoming shorter, it is not getting any longer, even though it is actually growing 1/2 inch per month out of the scalp. cutting your hair actually does not make it grow faster, it just makes it possible to get it to grow longer.
the only *actual* way to make your hair grow faster (according to a doctor) is to take mega-doses of vitamins, like prenatals. when your body is getting all the nutrients it needs (and more), your good health shows through the "health" of your hair, as well as your lack of health will show through your hair.
