How long should it take my hair to grow?

Well I just recently had hair a little past shoulder length and the stylist that did my hair last month(February) didnt trim my ends correctly, therefor leaving me with both short and long lengths of hair. I got my hair done today and the stylist cut my hair evenly to make up for what the other stylist did, so now my hair is like at the back of my neck. He told me to come back every 5 weeks to keep trimming my ends so my hair can grow back to its length and heathier/longer. So how long should it take my hair to grow back to its length and longer?

If u go for a "trim"every 5 weeks u'll need to stress ur growing it %26amp; only want the ends nipped - that u don't want to be able to see any hair on the floor after. If u just go in %26amp; say "trim" they're likely to cut 1/2" which will take off what u just grew.
