So I have naturally dark ashey blonde hair. For the past almost 2 years I have been dying my hair a very light platinum blonde from a box, doing my roots myself and everything. Recently when getting my hair cut at a very upper-scale salon I finally relented to my hair stylist and let him dye my hair (he hated the blonde.) He first did a stain which turned my hair red and then waited a few days a put the color on. My hair is now a medium to darkish brown and I am regretting it. I am not gonna go back to dying my hair blonde myself, because I know it will react differently on brown hair than on my natural dark blonde hair. But I really want my light blonde hair back. What would a stylist have to do to get it back to light blonde? And would my hair all die and fall out from being lightened so long, then darkened, then lightened again? I'm desperate for advice!!!

I would restructure your hair until it was in good condition, then I would do a heavy highlight....You do not want to go all over with the blond, because it almost never comes out evenly.
From what you have said already, your color experience was odd....Go to someone else....Get a consultation (this should be free)
When you feel that the colorist knows what is the best solution for you, then get your hair redone.

All they would have to do is bleach your hair and then dye it the blonde color you want. I really wouldnt worry about your hair being damaged, most dyes these days are actually extremely moisturizing for your hair since technology has come so far. Good luck!

First of all, your hair is already dead...everyone's is. I don't know what the effects would be on your hair follicles though. But I recommend you leave it alone until it grows out again to its natural color, then re-color it if you like.

well it's probably not gonna go back with just the box color your probably gonna have to wait a while and bleach it which sucks cause it is probably gonna damage your hair. If I were you I would get my money back. Never let them talk you into a color you don't want. Also for a while don't use a color protectant shampoo and conditioner cause you wanna make the brown fade as best you can before dyeing it or bleaching it. good luck hope this helped

im not a pro but i also dye my hair and have been for years. ya wanna know they best way to get your natural color back? let it grow out! i know i know...it takes so long and looks bad...but let it grow out enough so you (or your stylist) can see what color your roots are (your hair color can darken/lighten after a few years of dying it) and have them match that for the next dye...having dark hair you'll prolly need to bleach or strip it down then dye it back to the matched natural color (natural highlights too i guess) i just grow mine out and deal with having two hair colors (ive done this twice now...once with black dye and once with red -im a dark blonde too-) maybe your stylist doesnt know what theyre doing?

you go to the salon and have them remove the color with a color stripper then they color it what ever color you want. they also sell the color remover kit at the drug store. Next time remember it doesn't matter what the hair stylist thinks of your hair color if you like it. you might call the salon that you went to and ask them what you can do because you were talked into this hair color and you really don't like it.

Your stylist can use a color remover, or bleach. You could also buy bleach yourself, but I wouldn't reccomend it since it's not neccisary.
If you don't want to bleach it, but want to do it at home, you can do one of two things:
1. Buy a color remover from any beauty supply store, like Sally's, and see it that lightens it enough to dye it a light blonde.
2. Dye it a medium blonde and 3 weeks later dye it a light ash blonde. This should leave you with a light blonde.

I am 21 now and I have been coloring my hair since I was 14, I have Dark Brown hair and I have had every color under the sun done to my hair, dont worry about it falling out at all, as long as you keep it conditioned it will be ok.As for going back blonde , it might take a few visits to get it back to the light blonde but it will get there, I hope this helps.

If you are really desperate then I guess bleaching would be the way to go. Then choose a nice darker shade of blonde. Mind you, your hair might look wiry after all this. I suggest against doing all that as it totally damages your hair and will take forever to mend.
I would dye it blonde again (DIY) and live with whatever yuck color that it turns out to be until the color grows out. From I hear from you, it would be a good break for your hair not to be treated for a while. Believe me, the feel of damaged hair on your head is NOT sexy at all.... good luck.

There's a product I've been reading about that might help http://www.folica.com/one__n_only_Col_d3... (try this link). Its called one n' only colorfix. I read some of the reviews on this (some people send in pictures, which make the product seem fab) and it is supposed to be great for removing colour and people tend to say that it doesn't damage the hair too much. Apparently it is different to bleaching but effective in removing unwanted colour. Not so good on semi-permanent though.
I haven't tried it myself yet though as it is out of stock but you might be able to find it elsewhere. Well worth checking out.
