I know nothing about hair so if I say this to a stylist....?

I want something mature yet stylish, something professional for an office yet super sexy. Would they be able to tell me what style of hair cut and colors would look good on me and still give me something that I can manage and make look good on my own? I've had plain jane hair for awhile now and I'm ready for a change. I guess I'm looking to get a hair make over similar to what they do on What not to Wear...let them take control. Would they look at me weird if I said all this to them?

All you have to do is find a picture of something you like, show it to the stylist, and bingo...new hair!!

Oh no! that's the fun in the job! The only advice I give you is that if you tell them to pretty do whatever they want, be sure you are ready for whatever they think will look best on you.

They shouldn't. But if you're really not sure about what to say or what you want, look throught magazines of your favorite celebs haircuts, pick a couple, colors too if that's what you want. Then just bring them with you to the salon and show them what you were thinking about and ask them what they think would look best on you. Just be confident!

go to a real stylist if you go to some regular salon they will mess up your hair look online or get a hair magazine and look for what you want

i took a picture of victoria beckham to a pretty good salon. it's a v shaped straight bob, longer in the front. i adore it. it is so easy now, blow dry, then quick through with a 1 1/2 in curling iron, just to smooth it (or flat iron if i want it edgier), then i use a syling cream for brunettes only to hold and shine it up, or sometimes peice it up a little. i spray a little bit when i am done to keep it straight. i think it really looks sexy, modern and stylish. i dye it brown, then get pro highlights. but i like it plain medium brown too. as long as it is sleek, it always looks good!

im sorry i cant remember the site off hand right now but u could google it.......there is a site where u can put a clear headshot of yourself and "try" different hairstyles on...that way u can make the desision as to what will look best on you....

No way, they wouldn't look weird at you, you know what you want, and it makes there job a lot easier. First thing first before you go to the hair salon, get your self some pictures of some of the hair styles you would prefer or like, this will give them a bases as to what kinda style you are. And they also have books at the salon that you can look through while you wait. I myself would go for a shorter look, with a fly away look, not to sassy, but with bounce.

i would bring in a picture of what you like or i would give them a basic idea of what you want ...and tell them what you really dont want and let them go at it :D

it also depends on what kind of salon you go to. if its more high-class then i wouldnt worry...

if its kinda cheap i would watch out ;]
