I live in Beaver Dam which is on 151 between Madison and Fond du lac.
I live in Wisconsin and I'm looking to get a "funky" hair cut. Anyone know of a good stylist?
I think you'll have better luck in Madison than you would in Fondy.
I can't give you any personal recommendations, but my advice is to pick up a bunch of hair mags. If you can go someplace like Borders, you'll have a better selection. Go through them and pick out all the ones you like. Try to narrow it down to 1-3 pics. I can never settle on just one - I always combine several pics to get the one I want!
Take them in with you and explain what you want. If you get a good stylist, they'll ask a lot of questions to understand what you want, and may even have some good ideas of their own to contribute. They should also be able to recommend a good styling product to use with your new cut, and show you how to style it yourself at home.
I don't know the average price in Madison, but plan to pay somewhere around $40. Don't be cheap when you're planning on making a big change. You can go somewhere less expensive later, and just have them follow the shape of your existing cut.

I highly recommend the Millennium Salon at 4237 Lien Road in Madison (it is right by Target east). They always do an awesome job...I've never left unhappy. The staff are very professional and personable and treat thier customers extremely well. They also give a nice little neck massage when they shampoo your hair and offer you something to drink upon arriving for your appointment. I recommend a stylist in particular named Jaime because I have had her do my hair in the past and I know several people who go to her as well, but if you can't get Jaime, no biggie - they all do a great job.
On another note, the Millennium Salon is known for their great hair highlights as compared to other salons. They are the ONLY place I'll go to for highlights because the highlights are actually noticable in the hair and they never fade (they just grow out). -Just thought I'd add that tip.
Anywho..good luck and I'd be willing to bet money that if you went to the Millennium for your "funky" haircut, you would not leave disappointed. Their number is (608) 244-5727.
