How do I get this look without the hair stylist?

I want to do this at home by myself to create this look:

But with different colors. I already have layered hair, but I just might get it cut not dyed at the salon. Can anyone give me instructions how to dye my own hair like this?

You would part your hair across in a zig zag. Pin the top half above your head and get a friend to help you colour the bottom half. Given that your hair is blonde this is the way a hairdresser would do it but you haven't stated what colour your hair is.
