I want a low-maintence short haircut what kind should i get and what do i tell the hair stylist?

i was wondering if i was planning on getting a short haircut like just to leave half an inch to an inch of my hair, should i just have my mom do it with like the hair cutter/trimmer/buzzer/razor whatever it's called or should i go out and get it cut? would they just do the same thing? and i was wondering if i wanna get a haircut that looks like this:

how should i tell the hair stylist how to cut it? and my hair doesn't usually stay down so is there a way to tell them to cut it so it does even when it's short?

Your best bet is to bring the photo to a stylist, and explain what you're thinking. He/she can advise you as to the proper products to use to work with your kind of hair. Perhaps after you've gotten the style you want, your mom can do trims at home, but you usually have to have the stylist do it every once in a while to preserve the proper lines.
