How do I tell the stylist how to cut my hair to get this style?

I really like Jess' haircut from Bret Michael's Rock of Love, how would I tell the stylist to get it like that, I mean without spiking it up like she does, but that same haircut so I could spike it when needed? This is the link if you don't know, and it's the only picture I found.

but just in case, ask for a point cut.

A point cut is basically when the stylist holds out slices of your hair with their holding hand, and angles their scissors inward, to cut the hair into points. Like in the picture, her hair is pointy, or at least it LOOKS pointy.
