How can I get a stylist to cut most of the bulk out of my hair?

I want my haircut into deep layers with a sideswept bang. I have curly hair that I wear straight - NEVER curly. Will cutting out the bulk shorten drying/ironing time? And what do I ask for - a razor cut?

yes, and the layers will help with the bulk. i have thick hair and i am sooo much better off with layers. it takes a little time off of the drying, but not too much.

no, because all the layers will make your hair even curlier, and harder to keep straight.

Because of your natural texture your drying time is always going to be more involved than someone who has a straighter texture. Texturizing is not the answer. I would say perhaps to look into a curl reformer. Something like Rusk Anti Curl. It is not a relaxer, but it will loosen your curl making it easier to work with and more flexible. My curl hair clients really like this service. Also because you are working with your hair so much to get the texture that you want, no razor. The ends will just be too worn out looking. Best of luck.
